Google Hangouts for iOS gets a complete redesign





Google's cross-platform messenger app got a nice update today that includes a major redesign for iPhone and iPad. Google Hangouts for iOS 2.0 boasts a flat new look consistent with iOS 7 and enables picture-in-picture video calling for the first time.

NASA discovers 715 alien planets by looking for them in groups





We know that it's no longer rare to discover alien worlds, but NASA just made it downright commonplace. The space agency has confirmed the existence of 715 exoplanets discovered using the Kepler space telescope, ballooning the number of verified planets to nearly 1,700.

Apple's iBeacons goes 'Made for iPhone', and other news for Feb. 26, 2014





Apple has rolled iBeacons into its Made for iPhone (MFi) program. iBeacons are miniature Bluetooth transmitters that talk to Bluetooth 4.0 devices and provide micro-location data. iBeacons have a wide array of use, but currently they are most often found in retail stores and baseball parks.
