What Sparked the Mongol Conquests?



Early in the thirteenth century, a band of Central Asian nomads led by an orphaned former slave rose up and conquered 24,000,000 square kilometers of Eurasia. Genghis Khan led his Mongol hordes out of the steppe to create the largest contiguous empire the world has ever seen.
